I’m a believer of Jesus, a wife, a homeschool mom, and mother of three children – two out of the nest and a special-needs ‘tween who keeps me young. As one of the authors of Moving Mountains Daily, I hope that by sharing our trek that we can help others realize that disabilities do not define people. Life is stressful, and my biggest secret is my stress-relieving chocolate stash. Even as a four-year-old, I knew if it wasn’t chocolate, I wasn’t interested.
I grew up in Michigan, the “Caribbean of the North”, graduated from Michigan State University and ditched my degree almost immediately to fly for the airlines. Thirty-two years later, I’m an early retiree and a stay-at-home mom. Travel benefits enlarges our backyard and adds adventure to home education.
I have learned that people with disabilities are only as disabled as we believe them to be. The truth is they are just busy living life. It’s the rest of us who worry about what will happen tomorrow or a decade from now. If we could learn to focus on ‘this moment’ and love everyone unconditionally the mountains would not seem so daunting.

I am 12 and my name is Andrew. I am one of the authors of Moving Mountains Daily but I like the adventures even better. This is about me.
I go to a homeschool co-op. My favorite classes are gym and art. This year I am taking Chemistry, East Asian Literature, Art and Grammar. Sometimes I like math but most of the time I don’t.
My favorite sports are basketball and skiing. I love my Special Olympics teams. I broke my femur while I was skiing last year. It was not a very fun year. Mom just called it a new adventure. Last month I skied in the Special Olympics Winter Games. I advanced onto harder courses even though I hadn’t skied since breaking my leg.
I have a cat and I also like to read and travel. I think traveling is like being inside a book and reading is traveling without having to pack!
