Description
Horse Boy
By Rupert Isaacson
Biography, Autobiography
Horse Boy depicts the courage of a special needs family and the roller coaster ride that Autism plays in their daily lives. Like all families, the Isaacson family wants answers for Rowan, their four-year-old Autist. They are hoping to find the one key that will eventually unlock the doors that hold him prisoner.
Western medicine hadn’t provided any answers, so the Isaacson’s begin a desperate search for a Mongolian nomadic shaman that they had once met. They travel the wilds of Mongolia on horseback in search of healing. It becomes evident that Rowan can communicate intimately with horses and this his condition seems to improve with contact.
I came across this book just before traveling to Mongolia with my son who has Prader Willi syndrome. Horse Boy offered not only a cultural insight to Mongolia but allowed me to glean a different type of special needs travel information that wasn’t readily available on the internet.
A truly fascinating read.
