Description
Smart but Scattered – The Revolutionary “Executive Skills” Approach to Helping Kids Reach Their Potential
By Peg dawson, EdD
Richard Guare, PhD
This is another book that I continually refer to when I want input on strategies with everyday tasks like following instructions, staying focused, working independently, and controlling emotions, to name a few. Smart but Scattered coaches parents on how to identify their child’s executive strengths and weaknesses and then offers practical advice and strategies not only for the parent to implement but offers assistance for the school setting, as well.
Executive skills are the building blocks that helps us stay on track and finish what we set out to do. Some children get distracted and have to be nagged or walked through each step to accomplish the smallest task. Kids with executive skills can plan and carry out activities and learn to control impulses and emotions.
